Last month — before technical issues put the kibosh on the whole thing — I wrote a quick get-up-to-speed-on-the-YMCA-story post. And, since literally almost nothing’s changed (publicly, at least) here it is.
Anyone can watch the video tape of any city council meeting at uptexas.org They are usually available the next day. Get some popcorn for last nights meeting, it was about 2.5 hours long. Sheesh.
I don’t know how it went, but let me guess, it will be sent back to one of the hundreds of committies or it will be talked about again at a later date or …….. Maybe it will take over 10 years as the Chase Bank Building has.
Can you let us know how it went?

I sadly agree with bm. Not much “progressive” thinking by the UP fathers. Chase building is now an empty eyesore and the Y building is not far behind.
Nah, you have my guarantee that Y gets okayed. it has the right backers.
Why does UP feel obligated to help a non-profit business expand when it will still receive no tax dollars?
Why does UP turn away for-profit business that will pay taxes?
I have an MBA but need someone to explain this to me.
