Is This Budweiser Tank Patriotic or Disrespectful?
I was in the Walmart Market in Uptown a few weeks ago, when I stumbled upon this battlefield. I kind-of couldn’t process what I was seeing, so I snapped a picture and forgot about it until this morning.
With Independence Day tomorrow, I thought I’d revisit it. So, is this patriotic? If I was a troop (note: never have been), I’d probably walk in, and at least say that was the stupidest thing I’d ever seen, maybe say it was disrespectful.
Warren, marketing director at Budweiser: “You know what would be a great way to support our troops and sell a ton of beer to non-troops, Kevin? BEER TANK.”
Kevin, intern: “You don’t think that would be mildly offensive to people who have driven tanks into Germany and Russia and North Africa, defending our freedom, while we’re at home drinking delicious Budweiser on July 4th?”
Warren: “Hmm. That’s an interesting point.”
Kevin: “Wow, thanks.”
Warren: “You think too much. Pack your things.”
Avid Reader: “Bradford, you think too much. Don’t pack your things though, 9 out of 10 is a great post percentage.”
Avid Reader: I got a good laugh out of that. Thanks.
Really? If I was a troop, or me, or a kid, I would think that’s pretty cool. I’m with Warren (and with Avid Reader).
Keeping with the military theme, “Lighten up, Francis”
It is clear from the signage in your photo that they support our troops with donations…you may check their website to see that they do a great service to our military and to other organizations around the world.
Buy a bud and help someone!

omg, hilarious! I often have very similar imaginary conversations in my head. đ
