Mockingbird Station Announces Incoming Tenants

Details are still gelling for a couple of new tenants coming this fall to Mockingbird Station, but here’s what I do know: One is Herrera’s Tex-Mex, a family-owned outfit with a handful of locations in Dallas and one in Carrollton. (Ever been? I haven’t, but I like/believe I need enchiladas at least every couple of weeks, so I’ll take your recommendations.)

The other is a restaurant — and, presumably, a bar — called Mockingbird Taproom.

I’ll keep you posted.

Herrera’s is super-yum — think straightforward, no fuss Tex-Mex, and you’ve got it. Casual menu and atmosphere if it’s like their cafe on Maple. I recommend trying it for lunch – just a skip and a jump from downtown. (Oh, no; is that too Steve Blow-ish? Don’t tell Tim!) They make fantastic tortillas; they’re the kind you simply have to have a stack of to butter and dip in salsa…. Delish!

Herrera’s in Mickingbird Station??? Makes no sense at all if you’ve been to their original Maple location and Denton Dr location…these are down and dirty real tex mex (read: the best kind), though I know they’re owned by different family members

A location at Mockingbird Station makes me wonder if they’ve gone high-brow on us and trying to play in the Mi Cocina category (read: the worst kind).
