UP Council Approves $1.3 Mil in Library Costs
The University Park City Council approved $1.3 million worth of bids aimed at the city’s new library Tuesday evening.
The money will be used to finish-out the interior —dry wall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, etc. The city budgeted $1.37 million for the interior construction, so the numbers are slightly lower than anticipated, city manager Bob Livingston said.
The total cost is in the PDF below; city officials anticipate making up the $280,000 gap by transferring about $350,000 in higher education-related bonds.
The exterior of the building is expected to be done by November, said Gary Frazier, the city’s construction manager for the project. The library would move their materials in over the Christmas holiday, and open after the first of the year, Livingston said.
for pete’s sake, 8.5% seems high for the architect’s fee.
