“Y Too Big” Signs Stolen From YMCA Neighbors
Signs protesting a proposed YMCA expansion were stolen from neighbors’ yards and tossed in a pile down the block recently, according to a neighbor.
The signs, reading “Y Too Big,” were uprooted overnight and thrown into a pile at the corner of Douglas and Potomac avenues.
“Hopefully there will be no reoccurrence of this,” the resident said.
The YMCA is expected to defend their proposed renovation next Tuesday, in the third University Park Planning and Zoning Commission meeting to discuss the topic.

Expenses for the Dallas Y $50 Million.
CEO pay $349,400
Expenses for the National Y $90 Million
CEO pay $452,581
Expenses for American Red Cross $3 Billion (That’s right BILLION with a B)
CEO pay $501,000
That’s a pretty funny prank. And, also, I’m in the wrong line of work because my pay check ain’t nearly that big.
Piper Man: The expenses you reference are for the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. The Dallas YMCA consists of 23 branches, with an additional two camps, Camp Grady Spruce and Collin County Adventure Camp. The Dallas YMCA serves seven counties and operates an additional 102 program sites.
Your post is misleading in that you make it appear those are the expenses for the Park Cities YMCA when in fact they are the expenses for all the Y’s in the Dallas area. Given that and the benefit to the community the expenses don’t seem that large.
Another Mother- I wrote Dallas Y, not Park Cities Y. Get it? And, yes, the expenses are not so large, that is my whole point. Expenses are how the size of the charity is measured and for the CEO of the Dallas Y to be paid close to what the CEO of the American Red Cross makes, even though the Red Cross is about 33 times bigger than the Dallas Y illustrates my point that the Y is not only benefitting the community but also itself. Y CEO salaries are totally out of line compaired to the average salary of charities of comparable size. In fact, Charity Navigator records that the average CEO pay for a charity with expenses between 100-200 million is $147,273. Why does the Dallas Y CEO make more than double that when his charity doesn’t even have 60 million of expenses? Y members and donors should be asking this question when they send this organisation their money.
The study actually says that the median CEO salary in 2008 was $147,273 for organizations with median expenses of $5,321,963. For organizations with expenses of $50-100 million the 2008 median salary is $336,104. This demonstrates that the CEO pay for the Dallas Y is in line with the median.
The salary for the CEO of the American Red Cross is $501,122.
