Incoming Scots Have School Colors in Wardrobe

Although the uniforms are deceivingly Scot-centric, all of these Providence Christian School graduates are not future Highland Park High School students. But a number of them are headed your way. Thirty-three graduates walked across the stage Friday and are now moving onto high schools including the Cambridge School of Dallas, Episcopal School of Dallas, Highland Park High School, the Hockaday School, Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, Lake Highlands High School, Trinity Christian Academy, and W.T. White High School.

How in the world can you tell they aren’t a diverse group? Do you mean they aren’t very diverse in terms of height? Hair style? Age? Are you perhaps referring to the fact that only one boy had enough panache to wear a bow tie? From looking at that photo, can you tell what countries they’re from? What languages they speak at home? What talents they possess? What they want to do with their lives? OH, I get it. You mean they aren’t a diverse group based on skin pigmentation. Good catch. One parameter out of a literally endless set of others (and, ironically, one that I was brought up to ignore when assessing people). But you’re right—we should really be judging people (and certainly photographs) based on some Platonic ideal of an empowering, egalitarian balance of hues. That should trump. Everyone should be able to see themselves reflected in EVERY picture, or that picture must be deserving of shame. That’s a very rational idea. Great job, great comment.

z, momof4, peter griffin – I hope you understand that entitlement programs are aimed, for the most part, at assisting those who have been discriminated against primarily by how they look – something each has absolutely no control over. Yes, we are talking about skin color and obvious physical deformities.
