Actually, their regular season record was 8-7. They ended up beating ESD, Woodlands, Jesuit and St. Marks in the playoffs, after losing to each of them in the regular season.
And you should have said congratulation to Coaches Thompson, since Ross Thompson coaches the DII team.
DII had to beat Hillcrest, last year’s DII state champ heavy with senior talent and ranked number 2 in the state entering the playoffs, Flower Mound, ranked number one in the state, and Klein ranked in the top 5 in the all year and undefeated in DII play.
Each of the teams HP DII beat is a “conglomeration team” drawing from multiple 5A and 4A high schools and led by seniors. HP DII has players only from HPHS and no seniors.
DII had lost to both Hillcrest and Flower Mound in the regular season.
DII caught fire at the right time. Congratulations to Coach Ross Thompson and the boys.
And Highland Park’s team is the only lacrosse program in Texas ever to win both the DI and DII state championships in the same year–and they have done it twice–2008 and 2012.
Division II holds on to beat Klein, 8-7, for its second state championship.
Division I made it a clean sweep with a 5-4 win over St. Mark’s. The Scots have won six state championships.
Amazing for DI. Regular season record just 12-7. They never gave up and just kept getting better. Very inspiring!
Awesome to experience two championships in one day with two great games!
Congrats to Coach Thompson and the boys!!

DII’s run was not too shabby either.
