Why do Newspapers Exist? Ask a Cub Scout

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of giving a People Newspapers/D Magazine tour to Cub Scout Pack 71.

Half a dozen kids came, and we talked about comic books, bowling, and the construction of our office building. Journalism was discussed in passing, mostly in this context:

“Hey guys, why do we read newspapers and magazines?”

“Because, in the morning, you don’t want to have to go back to upstairs to get a book to read and the newspaper’s already there.”

I couldn’t argue with him.

A newspaper on every table and a chicken in every pot. The kid sounds like a genius 🙂
