Recovery Fund Established For Glenwick Residents Displaced By Monday’s Fire

A fire recovery fund has been established at Wells Fargo Bank to help the tenant of the fire, who was uninsured. To donate, visit any Wells Fargo and use either of these account names: Pinedo Fire Recovery Fund or Account No. 9017295040.

While I was at the scene, UP Fire Chief Randy Howell said, “This is something I’ve seen with this community: they rally around and provide assistance.”

Let’s help those words ring true.

Well done community. I do have an issue with the need for this recovery fund though. If the tenant owned the home and had a mortgage on it, they would be required to carry insurance. If the tenant owned the home outright, they are well off enough to buy their own replacement goods. If the tenant was just leasing/renting the home, I find it very hard to believe that any Lease agreement at this point in time does not have a Renters Insurance requirement included (costs is below cheap).
