Around the World at Lamplighter
Kids at Lamplighter gained more worldly knowledge after their International Night event last week. The “travelers” studied foreign maps and photos, created origami art, sampled tons of exotic food, and enjoyed cultural performances from African drummer and Irish dancers.
At the end of the evening, students left with stamped passports displaying Brazil to Turkey, tattoos on their arms, and a new appreciation for the many cultures.
It is Joan Hill’s first year as Head of School, and after the event, she said that she could see why there was so much anticipation.
“It was a wonderful family event,” Hill said. “[Lamplighter is a school] that strives to be an inclusive community, one that is respectful of cultural differences. That’s what International Night is all about.”
