Highland Park Wins State in Shootout

Highland Park’s girls soccer team won its fifth state title and first since 2002 on Saturday with a 1-0 shootout win over Byron Nelson.

Lady Scots goalkeeper Sarah Howley was named Most Valuable Player after turning away seven out of 10 shots in the shootout. Kate Summers, who spent most of the season on junior varsity, scored the game-winning goal.

Highland Park finished 28-1-2.

It was an incredible game! Nelson was a tough competitor. The Lady Scots looked great and became the well-deserved state champs. What are the plans to celebrate their win?

@ peter griffin – is “for pete’s sake” some kind of Family Guy reference? I feel like I’m not in the know when I read your comments!
