ESD Reaches Settlement With Doe Family

The folks at Episcopal School of Dallas seem to know when Claire St. Amant has a day off. About an hour ago, the Morning News‘ Diane Jennings reported that the school has reached a settlement with the family of Jane Doe II, the former student who was expelled after having an affair with history teacher Nathan Campbell.

As you may recall, the announcement of headmaster Stephen Swann’s retirement happened while Claire was on vacation.

    Hey Dan, you made a slight error. It should read:

    The former student who was expelled after having a consentual affair with History teacher Nathan Campbell and continuously bragged about her affair to fellow students and teachers causing them to feel uncomfortable around her.

    Please correct in your post above!

    @ GIR-

    Wow, ESD supporters. We can all breathe a sigh of relief that so much has been learned from this experience.

    @GIR, she was 16 – and obviously you are fine with that – at exactly what age do you draw the line? Or do you? Is it ok for a teacher to have sex with a 15, 14, 13, 12, 9 year old, as long as it’s “consentual”? If the teacher has sex with every teenager he teaches, is that ok as well? I mean, you can’t say as long as it was monogamous, since he was married, so how many of his students is it ok for him to have sex with? Can he have sex with several of them at the same time? One a day, one a week? Can he have orgies with several of them? Is it ok if he has sex with teenage boys as well? Just trying to figure out what rules the ESD parents thing should be in place, because obviously what I think and what they thing is VERY DIFFERENT.

    I have been amazed at the response of parents of children who go to ESD regarding this issue. . Every one of them seems to excuse the behavior or blame the victim. These are parents who I consider to be “good parents” with “family values”.

    @hpmom3,

    Then maybe you should reassess whether these are truly “good parents” with “family values”
