HP Junior Racks Up Musical Kudos
The last time I saw Highland Park junior Preston Luthy, he was being applauded in February for all-state honors on bass trombone. The first time I met Luthy, in September, he’d just finished an Eagle Scout project that involved renovating special-ed classrooms (with lavish praise from life-skills teacher Brenda Bondurant).
Now the kid is on our radar again, thanks to his work with the Lone Star Youth Orchestra. He won the concerto competition, and is a featured performer at tonight’s concert, where he’ll play Bruch’s Concerto for Violin in G Minor, op. 26.
Congrats, Preston!
The show begins at 7 p.m., in the Irving Arts Center’s Carpenter Hall. Tickets are available here.
