Both Highland Park basketball teams will be back in Class 4A state playoff action tonight.

The Lady Scots (25-7) will take on West Mesquite (30-7) in a Region II semifinal at 7:30 at Garland Special Events Center. Prior to that, Rockwall (31-7) and Bryan Rudder (34-5) will meet in the other regional semi. The winners will square off at 3 p.m. Saturday with a trip to state on the line.

Highland Park, which edged McKinney North, 40-39, on Tuesday night in the regional quarterfinals, has won nine straight games. West Mesquite, a 53-38 winner over Sherman last Monday, has won 17 straight.

Meanwhile, the Scots (28-2) will face Kimball (27-5) in an area game at 7:30 at Lancaster.

Highland Park will once again be without leading scorer David Allen, who was suspended after being arrested for an alleged DWI last Saturday. The Scots beat Newman Smith, 46-34, in bi-district, while Kimball was an 82-70 winner over Hillcrest.

The winner will face the Woodrow Wilson-McKinney North winner in the regional quarterfinals.
