Lady Scots Crush Carter
Highland Park’s girls basketball team rolled to a 49-33 Class 4A area win over Carter on Friday night at Conrad High.
The Lady Scots (24-7) will take on McKinney North (21-12) in the regional quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Frisco Wakeland. Highland Park has beaten the Lady Bulldogs, a District 10-4A rival, three times this season.
Kaitlyn Read led the way in scoring for Highland Park with 19 points against the Lady Cowboys. Yes, Lady Cowboys.
I feel silly admitting this, but when I saw the HP fans’ T-shirts with the words “SEY LLEH” on them, I said to myself, “What does ‘see yeah’ mean?”
Good interpretation for the shirt I find a little too off-color to wear myself.
Took me a minute or two, as well.
The ladies did a wonderful job! This is exciting.
I think the great numbers in the crowd wearing the Lady Scots shirts was an amazing sign of support for the girls. The orginal print with the above referenced line was just for players, families, and season long supporters – bit of an inside joke as the girls rallied toward the playoffs. The second printing of the shirt being sold to the public at cost does not include the extra “spirit line”! All in good fun, and not intended to be “off color” – come support the girls Tuesday night, should be a great match up – Go Lady Scots!
All in good fun, Blanche, but I’m not sure it’s school-appropriate. Sorry. Just the way I would never endorse SKA or say SKA because of what it stands for.
For those as clueless as I am, read it backwards. I had to ask what SKA meant only a few years ago, but I hear it now as a verb, as in “I skah-ed out and didn’t study for it.”
Really mind blowing game.Good interpretation for the shirt and i hope many people are like it.
