Hired Gun Will Travel
Full disclosure: I have a radar gun. A real one. Right now, in my possession until Tuesday, and rented at a reader’s suggestion for our Oak Cliff paper (supposedly, people are driving more than 70 mph in the 20-30 mph zone near Methodist Dallas Medical Center).
So. As long as we’ve got the ‘dar gun — and the brand name, no joke, is “Stalker Sport” — should we try it out in the Park Cities on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning? If so, where? And what time?
Any intersection with a stop sign not on Hillcrest or Preston – see what the average speed is of the “California Stops” plus
1. Dickens – Stanford to Turtle Creek
2. Lomo Alto between Southwestern to Colgate
3. Pickwick between Caruth and Southwestern
4. Greenbrier between Preston and Douglas (thanks to Alan Peppard’s comments back in about 2007, it’s a dragstrip/freeway now)
2. Lomo Alto between Southwestern AND Colgate. Duoh!
Airline Rd between McFarlin and University Blvd on the east outskirts of SMU. Almost drivers try to see how fast they can go between the two stop signs and it’s a highly populated walking area. Last year within a couple of months, three SMU students were hit by cars. Luckily there were no deaths just minor injuries.
Thanks, all! What about peak times (early morning, lunch rush, standard rush hour, etc.) at the location above? Any leanings?
*locations, rather
Greenbrier between Preston and Lomo Alto afternoons from 3-6P
Douglas between Purdue and Greenbrier anytime
Beverly between Armstrong & Tollway.
Shocking how fast people go between the stop signs, just to jam on their brakes to stop again.
I think a lot of it is people trying to get over the Tollway, but trying to avoid Mockingbird during commuting hours.
4100 block of Normandy any afternoon.
How fast are they going? Do you have a radar gun? Hard to tell without one. It’s 30 mph
