Vehicle Charging Stations Come to West Village

I live in Uptown, pretty close to the West Village. I drive a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta, but would probably switch to an electric/hybrid car if I could afford it (Park Cities People subscriptions are really pretty cheap, folks.).

That said, the announcement that West Village had installed electric vehicle charging stations struck me as odd. Who will use them? The dude that drives a literal monster truck down McKinney Avenue, revving his engine at 2 a.m.?

Wishful thinking on the center’s part, I suppose. Now buy some papers so I can get a new car.

Your point is pretty spot on and I doubt they will be getting much use because of the massive number of electric cars out on the road currently. It will be years before any of the electric cars are cheap enough to make sense for anyone but the 1%-ers. Doing the arithmetic of my auto and the chevy volt on an upfront and long term gas comparison; I would have to drive the volt for over 8 years at my current overall mileage and typical distances driven before I get back to even and start saving money.
