I thought they were going to be low key, since they certainly don’t want anyone from the tax appraisal office to show up and see how they are ripping off homeowners by not paying their fair share of taxes.
Not much of a secret now. We live in Devonshire and the noise woke up our 10 year old son. He wasn’t scared, but it was very annoying. It went on from about 10pm to 10:15. What a bunch of selfish … Are there noise requirements in regards to that type of activity at that hour?
Wish I had seen this news yesterday. Those booms happened entirely too late on a school night. I figured out it was fireworks but couldn’t believe the city had approved it.
As a DCC member, I absolutely DON’T think I am above the noise laws. I am sure that many members were like me — we knew there was a party to welcome the new clubhouse. Expected food, maybe some dancing inside, not really much else. I completely understand that the noise was bothersome and would not have planned the event that way. I was very sad to hear about the schoolkids and others disturbed.
Seriously after last weeks tornados we were a bit freaked out by the noises – thought seriously something was blowing up. Got us all out of bed and worried. Thankfully facebook reported it was just fireworks. Geesh. It seems to be a very wasteful use of money and not so smart on a school night.
for pete’s sake, keep this a secret!
we don’t want to see an occupy HP village
encampment spring up.

woke up my kids, too, and had my wife and i wondering whether it was a thunderstorm or a gang war.

I’ll admit that I had forgotten this was going to happen, even though I reported it back in January. We should have reminded everyone.
I agree with Wes. I guess the DCC members think they’re above the disturbing-the-peace laws.
I was wondering that noise was! It sounded like weird thunder but not really or bombs going off. Good to know it was just fireworks!
