Lights All Night to Light up Dallas, All Night

If you told me last year the biggest NYE electronic music event in the world was going to be held in Dallas, I would’ve punched you in the face. Okay, maybe you would’ve been spared a punch, but I would’ve been so incredulous that I probably would’ve at least slapped you.

That said, the biggest New Year’s Eve electronic event in the world will be held in Dallas this year, and it was partly put together by Highland Park grad Hank Keller. It features Tiesto, Benny Benassi, Porter Robinson, Wolfgang Gartner, Dad Life, and Laidback Luke, plus college faves Ghostland Observatory, RJD2, and Girl Talk, and Denton’s own Neon Indian.

For the uninitiated, the DJ lineup is basically (in old person terms, if this was 1969) The Who, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Santana, and the Grateful Dead. (Tiesto is The Beatles in this scenario, but the rest are somewhat interchangeable.) In the words of our vice president, this is a big effin’ deal.

Tickets to the two-night extravaganza are still available; head to Lights All Night.

So, what you’re saying is that these performers are under 40 years old, right?

Your description is a bit dramatic – a solid line-up but Tiesto is FAR from The Beatles for this generation – and Lights All Night is not Woodstock (as you compare the rest of the weekend’s performers back to those in 1969).

If Daft Punk was headlining – now that would be something to get excited about.

Dallas has a huge EDM scene – you should check it out.
