Film Society President/CEO Tanya Foster Steps Down

Seems University Park’s own Tanya Foster is stepping down from her role as president and CEO of the Dallas Film Society.

“I have decided to take a break and spend some precious time with my family,” Foster said in an email today, noting that since her tenure began two years ago, the organization has raised $1.5 million in annual revenue and landed more than $3 million in in-kind donations each year for the society and the Dallas International Film Festival.

Foster also launched an advisory council; a membership program that’s now more than 650 people strong; and a fall fundraiser, the Art of Film, which honored Robert Duvall in 2010 and John Lithgow last spring.

Quick internal shout-out: My hunt for a photo to accompany this post just produced something else: My Sweet Charity blogger Jeanne Prejean’s nearly prehistoric (by now) scoop of this same item. How do you do it, Jeanne?
