After a lengthy tryout process, the 2012-2013 Highland Belles squad added 17 new members to its ranks. Shannon Harty’s award winning drill team now has 60 members total.
The team, which starts group rehearsal in January, will select its lieutenants in February.
Good job ladies. The amount of work that goes into this is impressive! I find it hard to believe that the amount of qualified girls has dropped by more than 25% though. What’s up with that? I love seeing the larger group on the field. That is what makes them special. At this rate there will be just 50 Belles in 3 years instead of the 60+ group they have now. What has changed?
After I posted I saw the article come up from last year that 28 made it. So I am not wrong that it is smaller just was wrong by how much. More like 40% drop. Can’t believe I have not read about this on here yet!
