Burglar Finds Way Into South Highland Park Home
A few weeks ago, our lead news story was about burglary, specifically burglaries just across the Highland Park/ Dallas line, along Oak Lawn. At the time, a few burglaries had begun to jump into the southern part of Highland Park, so HP and Dallas police were working together to see if there was any connection.
Flipping through the police reports this week, I noticed that another home in that area was burglarized on Friday. The burglar smashed his (or her, I suppose) way into a master bedroom in the 4300 block of Westway, then proceeded to steal $10,000 worth of jewelry. The homeowners were at the Scots’ victory .
Just in doing my own research, it seems like the burglars who are striking in Dallas (and now south Highland Park) make their way into the homes on Friday evenings. Make sure to arm those alarms, folks.
So may I infer from your last sentence, that the alarms were not set?
I would love to know if any burglaries were interrupted because alarms did go off and alerted the police. Do the police reports list any failed attempts? You see, I’m fastidious about setting mine (even while I sleep — motion detectors everywhere except in my bedroom). It would be comforting to know that this kind of OCD actually works.
@Patsy Ann- Actually, the alarm was set, but the window the burglar broke in through wasn’t on the alarm system for some reason.
As for failed attempts, HPDPS does report them.
U.P.had one on Rankin.
I would like to know who has been banging on my front door ( 5 loud knocks)and running off in the middle of the night or early AM hours , going on 2 years now. This AM it was before dawn, 6:00 AM and this was not even a Friday night.
