Quilters Band Together For Blue Out Night

Highlander Band member Mary Stimson and her "Aunt Susie" Roberts display the quilt that will be auctioned tonight.

Tonight is the eight annual Blue Out Night at Highlander Stadium, but this one has a twist. The Highlander Band is encouraging Scots fans to “be bold and wear gold,” as band members have been selling gold T-shirts this year.

Traditionalists who love the blue shirts may want to bid on the quilt seen here. Comprised of T-shirts from previous Blue Out Nights, it was created by the event’s founder, Susie Roberts, and her quilting buddies Trish Ballard, Phyllis Conces, Ellen Tye, and Sara Hewitt. The quilt will be one of the many items auctioned during the band’s pre-game fundraiser, BBQ with the Band. Food will be provided by Peggy Sue BBQ, and music will come from the Dixie Scots, featuring Susie’s husband, John.
