Medical Emergency Clears Out Pep Rally

An attendee of the Scots pep rally this morning had a medical emergency while in the stands, forcing the school to evacuate the gym.

At around 9:40 a.m., students were cleared out at the tail end of the pep rally, after someone reported an emergency in the stands, said HPISD spokeswoman Helen Williams. Due to privacy laws, Williams could not comment further about the victim’s gender, age, or affiliation to the school.

The victim was removed by EMTs, she said.

“We were impressed,” Williams said.  “The kids just scooted out of there. You worry whenever it’s crowded, but everyone evacuated safely.”

Students were lead back to their classrooms. The status of the victim is unknown.

I’ve been told by high school students that the person was not a student or a school employee but was an elderly relative of a player, and that she made it to the hospital.
