SMU Students Sleep in Boxes
Well, most of the time, SMU students sleep in beds comforted by air conditioning. But this evening, from 6 to 10, several Mustangs will enjoy cardboard accommodations on the South Quad during the university’s Sleep-In-A-Box event, which is designed to raise awareness of homelessness in partnership with Vogel Alcove.
Question: What percentage of the SMU student body would you estimate has ever been homeless?
Isn’t that the point? I mean, I guess the event could seem trite to some, but isn’t the idea to raise awareness of homelessness in a very visible manner for those in whose lives homelessness is not a typical reality?
@ Missingthepoint: Exactly.
No doubt a comparable percentage to that of Park Cities residents who have been homeless.
