4300 Block of Beverly Drive Closed
Horse’s mouth, er, keyboard:
Due to utility work in the 4300 block of Beverly drive, the road will be closed the remainder of the day. Don’t forget, 4500 Beverly remains closed. The 4200 and 4400 blocks remain open for thru traffic but are of no convenience. Best bet is to take the suggested detour route.
And we all remember not to drive in the closed blocks, right?
A few Sunday’s ago I drove down one of the “closed” Beverly streets to look at a house that was coming on the market. I pulled in to the driveway, looked, backed out and went back the way that I came. I was pulled over by Officer Wade, who is 6’5″ and 250 lbs…a very intimidating man. He informed me that although I lived on another block of Beverly, I had no authority “what-so-ever” to be on this “closed” block. As I began to state what I was doing, he ignored me, turned and went to his patrol car and proceeded to write my ticket.
It would be interesting to find out how many of these tickets have been issued and the amount of fines and court costs fees have been paid.
And although I am grateful that we live in a City where the safety and security of it’s citizens is a top priority, it would be nice if the police would occasionally wave or Heaven forbid actually smile every now and then.
I find the HP police to be very friendly, they always wave back when I wave to them and I often get a smile. Their work is serious, just initiate the friendliness and you may find that they will respond with friendliness.
I have been pulled over by Officer Wade twice and both times he was very pleasant. You know how seriously the HP police take their jobs. They are just doing what they are supposed to. Trust me -the beverly closings are a total pain but not much we can do about it except for what Officer Wade and the rest of the force ask us to.
PC Dad,
Go to court and that ticket will be thrown out!
