Style Network’s ‘Big Rich Texas’ Premieres Tonight

In preparation for tonight’s premiere of Style Network’s Big Rich Texas, I’ve decided to let go of the past and leave their 2009 attack on the DFW area (Dallas Divas and Daughters) behind.

Of course, that means I’ll have to forget the nasty f-bomb e-mail I received from a Divas cast member after she read one of my recaps during the show’s first (and apparently last) season. Because what kind of elite mother of a debutante would type that word and click send?

Answer: One that Style Network would find to be such a suitable representation of local high society that they’d cast her again, giving her a role in Big Rich Texas.

Set your DVR for 8 tonight on Style. And read my recap tomorrow on D Magazine’s Front Row.

    OMG. Train wreck part II.

Best line “the most prestigious country club in DALLAS” – according to this delusional show- is some podunk, no name club in FORT WORTH!! And not even in the nice neighborhoods….way out east off 820 & 30.

I’m sure the Parkies will be rushing to sign up for a 70 mile round-trip drive to this “prestigious” club. Hahahahaha!!!

    100%trash.
Cannot believe Connie would have her 15year old daughter on that show-so wrong in so many ways!
How embarrassing for the HP cheerleaders to have one of their squad members on this horrible show!

Wow. I feel sorry for Grace AND Connie! Especially Grace though. She had no real choice in this. Connie should have known what she was getting into with this group of TV trailer park trash. Big? No. Rich? Ummm, no. Texas? I gueeessss? You know it’s bad when Connie comes out looking like the reasonable one among this group of trash. I really wasted an hour of my life on this trash (though I was reading as well). I will not make that mistake again! Also, this is NOT for consumption by any kid under about 15 y.o. My children will not watch this.

Just when you thought that you’d seen/heard it all from women.. now we see the “C” word tattoo’d on an ankle on a teenager and proud of it and if she wasn’t about to get kicked out of the club, the mother wouldn’t have suggested that she opt for puffed lips instead of “the C” tattoo. if the “F” word on a purse posted on FB wasn’t enough in crystals no less… then I guess we are so dumbed down for reading watching and otherwise even admitting it.. I watched it.. with my husband who had said “what is all that talk that people are having about a show “Big TEXAS RICH”? well, I said WATCH and see for youself.. he did and said in his many years on this earth.. he’d never see the C word that a man wasn’t saying it and then even rarely. and DALLAS is really a great caring and concerned city.. this is not DALLAS and even less than the TV show Dallas that is coming back.. the Ewings don’t even have the nerve to say “BIG TEXAS RICH”

I happen to know one of participants – not well, but we know each others name and we have a children in the same class. So I was interested in what this show was all about. I started looking at what people posted and looked at Cynthia’s website. There are links to each ones facebook page, twitter account…. Of course the participants have or have not set their own security for each of these sights but I was appalled that i could easily access the Facebook pictures of one of the girls and their friends (some I know). These moms have knowingly put themselves and their daughters in the spotlight but I would be horrified to have my child’s picture and name so readily available to anyone in this country. I know the information is there and has been available since this girl does not protect her account but now that she is in the spotlight I think she has a duty to protect her friends from her gawkers.

Dear Mom of 4, I would just like to say that I thought the same thing and did bring this to the attention of the girl’s Mother. I will not be spending much time writing about the kids on this show because I am over 40 and don’t find them that interesting, but also because I’m not a bully who picks on little kids. I’m afraid others will not be so kind.

Cynthia I truly appreciate you not picking on the kids. I do believe we

I am going to call a couple of the moms I know who are in pictures with this particular girl. There is nothing wrong with the pictures but I would not want my daughter so willingly exposed. This is a simple lesson in Facebook (and other social media) security. While I am a Facebook user and love my connections I have taught and will continue to teach my children that the content I post does not simple reflect on me but those around me. My entire page is open to only “friends”. While this mom has willingly opened herself and her daughter up to the “world” by appearing on this show, her friends should not have to be so exposed. Out of courtesy to her friends she should limit who is able to see the pictures she posts.

My husband is from Texas and I’ve been to Texas and we were both appalled at the “cheesiness” of this stupid show. In all honesty, these folks may be “big and rich”, but they behave no differently from what is referred to as….. redneck trailer park trash. We might as well have been watching Jerseylicious. Rich or poor, “trashy is trashy”. Has wealth become a vehicle for plastic surgery, bleach and botox? I hate to break it to these ladies, but they all look fake and plastic. There is nothing remotely sexy or glamorous about any of them. Actually, I feel sorry for any woman who feels the need to look and behave like this. What a pathetic look at our materialistic culture.

I am watching the newest episode on dvr right now and all I can say is that this show is so incredibly fake its a joke!!!!It is so obviously scripted!!This is definitely NOT reality t.v. It disgusts me that all of these women not only on this show but the “real” housewives also are so incredibly blessed and they fight about the most ridiculous things!!!!I wish my biggest problem was someone talking about my botox behind my back!!!There are so many ppl that cant find work to feed their children and this is how these women act!!!DISGUSTING!!!!!They all need to get a life and find some hobbies I dont know maybe spend time helping at a shelter perhaps? They are all bored with too much time on their hands and have no clue what REAL problems are!!!Reality t.v. no but a reality check is desperately needed!!!!
