Rise and Shine, Park Cities (7-13-11)

1. If you’ve got a particularly blank wall in your home and are looking for some jazzy art to hang, head over to Stephanie Anne in Highland Park Village tomorrow to catch a glimpse of the bold, colorful work  of Alan Smith.  Have a few glasses of wine and nosh on hors d’oeuvres while checking out the store’s artist of the month from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

2. There are only three more installments of Highland Park United Methodist Church’s summer Rejebian series. This week’s performer is Robert Clover-Brown, aka The Shakespeare Man, who really looks like a lot of fun. Head over to the church at 7 p.m. for the performance.

3. Alberto Lombardi’s Bistro 31 should be opening any day now, right? Honestly, considering how successful Tre Wilcox’s Marquee Grill & Bar has been, I imagine Bistro 31 will have similar success. That is, especially if he enlists noted mixologist Jason Kosmas to do the cocktail menu. But the real question is, with this new addition, and Stella McCartney heading to the Village as well, what does the center lack?

Discuss.

I’m thinking that the HP Village only lacks parking!

Has anyone heard that Patrizio’s lease will not be renewed and that Mercury Grill will take it’s place at that time?

@Another Mother- Just spoke with Village spokeswoman Hillary Artzt. Apparently there’s no truth to that rumor.

I agree with the parking….they have entirely too many places blocked off for valet now that Marquee is open. I guess the construction doesn’t help either. I can’t imagine how many more they will block for valet when Bistro 31 opens.

If I have to valet or walk from the other side of Mockingbird we won’t be going to Mi Cocina as much.
