Rise and Shine, Park Cities (7-6-11)
1. Back in June, Troop 277 Girl Scouts Chandler Bjork and Avry Tucker brought a little color to the Annette G. Strauss Family Gateway Center as part of their Silver Award project. The two Highland Park Middle School students helped design a bright, 40-foot mural for the center’s cafeteria, which was painted by the homeless children that find shelter there. Seriously, just watching the video of the girls working with the kids is enough to make your heart burst with pride. Way to go, ladies!
2. Now that you’ve got your happy face on, go fill it with free cookies. Head over to Mockingbird Station tomorrow from noon to 6 p.m. to score some free chocolate chip cookies from the DoubleTree Cookie CAREavan.
3. Want to learn more about the George W. Bush Presidential Center? Head over to Highland Park United Methodist Church tonight at 7 p.m. to hear director Alan C. Lowe speak. It’s part of the church’s Rejebian summer series, so be sure to give them a heads up that you’re heading over.
