Scots Headed to 7-on-7 National Finals
Highland Park went undefeated in the RedBull Game Breakers 7-on-7 Dallas qualifier in Cedar Hill over the weekend. As a result, the Scots have earned a spot in the national finals July 15-16 at SMU’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
Highland Park beat DeSoto, 27-22, in the championship game. Earlier in the tourney, the Scots beat Roosevelt (23-5), Garland (18-15), DeSoto (21-15), and Arlington Seguin (36-22).
Quarterback Brady Burgin was 65-of-99 for 679 yards with 13 touchdowns and two interceptions in the tourney. William Morris led the way in receiving with 29 catches for 246 yards and four touchdowns. Dalton Stogner caught six touchdowns.
DeSoto and Seguin also earned spots in the national finals. Dallas was one of 15 regional qualifiers.
For those of us not in the know…what exactly is the set up of the 7-on-7? Is it flag/touch/etc? Do they start on the 40 and only have 4 downs?
It is touch. Passing only (no kicking). It’s a 45-yard field. Possession begins at the 45. No blocking. QB has four seconds to throw the ball.
Thanks.
They all look really small. Amazing what shoulder pads do for a young man. I guess there’s no O line since it’s touch????
Exactly. Just skill-position players. No offense, linemen. 🙂
