Rise and Shine, Park Cities (6-9-11)

1. Indy Car drivers Danica Patrick, Ryan Briscoe, Helio Castrovenes, and Will Power are coming to Macy’s/NorthPark Center at 5 p.m. today to sign autographs and mingle with fans. All told, Izod is steering the event; A $50 clothing purchase gets you tickets to Texas Motor Speedway and the chance to win a shopping spree, a 2012 Honda Civic, and other prizes.

2. So in my purely empirical and unbiased journalistic opinion, the Park Place dealership on Lemmon Avenue is a magical, magical fairyland – one where an adult reporter with teenage-boy driving skills can get behind the wheel of a $400,000 car for the sake of a column (yep), and where guys in beat-up shorts occasionally wander in and buy a Maserati or something.

At any rate, Park Place has some news: the company will soon sell Jaguars alongside its regular lineup, and they’ve purchased Jaguar Dallas plus the marketing rights to Lotus.

3. As long as we’re rollin’ with the car theme, let’s consider Platinum Motorcars‘ suggestion for Father’s Day. Says a press release:

Platinum Motorcars is celebrating the release of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 25 years ago with a Father’s Day gift as iconic as the movie. For $1,500, Dad can enjoy a day in a Ferrari — a modern-day Ferrari 430 Berlinetta or Ferrari 430 Scuderia, rather than the replica 1961 Ferrari 250 GT in the film. The Ballpark in Arlington becomes North Texas’ version of Wrigley Field, with two tickets to a Texas Rangers game, premium third-base seating (based on availability) as part of the package. In Ferris Bueller style, Dad can see priceless works of art in a museum, this time at the Dallas Museum of Art with two tickets.

“In his heart, every dad is Ferris Bueller,” says Benny Black, owner and general manager of Platinum Motorcars. “The ultimate gift for him this Father’s Day is to let him live out a dream 25 years in the making.”

(… Bueller?)
