Memorial Bench Destroyed

Sad incident in the Highland Park Police blotter this week:

Between 5 p.m. May 13 and 7:30 a.m. May 17, someone destroyed a memorial bench in the 4800 block of Lakeside Drive and threw the bench into Exall Lake. The bench is dedicated to Rebecca Rose Gunn, and is valued between $350 and $750.

I did some stupid stuff in high school (breaking and entering rings a bell), but this seems really low. I hope the bench can be replaced quickly, and without asking the Gunn family for some more cash.

    There’s a known high school party house down on Lakeside. Sounds like an act while under the influence.

    Sounds like anonymous who called in the “See Ya” complaint also didn’t like it that only a single person had was associated with that bench memorial. Bench Memorials For Everyone Or No One!

    Just take it out of the money earmarked for cleaning up the suds in the fountain every weekend.

    Or just redo/ rename the park for $80K, and put a new bench in the budget.
