Rise and Shine, Park Cities (5-24-11)
1. If you (for some reason) enjoy driving without a seat belt, you may want to avoid the town of Highland Park until June 5. The town just announced that it’s upping seat belt enforcement as part of the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” campaign, which allows the guy who came up with that slogan to pat himself on the back for two weeks.
Moral of the story: wear a seat belt, or catch a fine.
2. From the same fine folks who may be giving you a ticket for getting sloppy with your seat belts:
Don’t forget to join Highland Park DPS for the annual Breakfast In Blue at Patrizio’s located in the Highland Park Shopping Village, Saturday June 11, from 7:30am to 9:30am. Tickets are $20 dollars and benefit Special Olympics Texas. The event is sponsored by Highland Park DPS and Patrizio’s. Join the men and women in blue who will be serving up breakfast in an effort to raise money and awareness as a part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising efforts for Special Olympics Texas. For more information, visit our website at www.hpdps.org.
3. With graduation coming up this week, we’re on the lookout for unique stories from area seniors. Are you graduating with a 3.28 GPA, and your birthday is ON 3/28? Did you succeed in ceramics despite your debilitating fear of clay? Hit us in the comments, or email me at bradford@peoplenewspapers.com.
Ideally your feats will be more interesting than the ones I made up.
Thank you for posting information about Breakfast in Blue, the date this year is Saturday June 11, 2011.
Is University Park Police doing the “Click it or Ticket” Campaign?
@BM- Not sure, but to be safe I’d probably wear my seat belt there too.
