Well Helllllllloooo, Dalai!
How many police officers does it take to protect the Dalai Lama during his visit to SMU? A whole bunch. The Dallas, University Park and SMU police departments are out in full force this afternoon. Here’s just one tiny stretch of road on Hillcrest behind McFarlin but the same tight security is visible for blocks around. Welcome Dalai, take a moment to swing by Peggy Sue’s if you can.
Alas, he’s also created a major traffic jam around the Mansion. Why do I think he’s not going to found in the bar?
While he’s in town he really should stop by NorthPark, too. His sunglasses are sorta past tense.
The SMU security presence was off the chain! Seriously, I wonder if there’s that much when George Bush is around the campus. Looking forward to reading the paper’s coverage of his visit.
The Bush’s were also in attendance. Hence the super suped up security. You should have seen the secret service inside McFarlin Auditorium and in the wings of the stage. His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama was awesome! Funny too. He’s quite the giggler.
*Bushes not Bush’s – I wish we could edit!
Jeanne Prejean: “His sunglasses are sorta past tense.”
are you kidding? this is what you say about a beloved spiritual leader and a gentle, kind-hearted human being, whose life goal is to make the world a better, more tolerant place? it’s perhaps a better goal than being best-dressed or “hip,” and your catty comment makes you seem clueless.
