Re: Local Woman Can’t Reach Mother in Japan
I have a delightful update concerning Susan Morrison’s birth mother in Japan. Since last week’s tsunami Susan has been unable to reach her until last night. Now Susan and her husband Bob are trying to raise funds for a flight to bring her mother to live in Dallas.
She’s okay. About an hour after the CBS11TV story aired last night, the Sendai newspaperman who helped us find her in the first place emailed to say he got through! “Okahsan is safe with chiko-chan. Today telephone line worked. I didn’t have time, so I didn’t talk much”. So, praise the Lord and thanks to Saburo! This morning KRLD called and Susan went live with Mike Rogers and Ernie Brown at 5:20am to do the follow up. Now, we need to raise funds to fly okasan home to Dallas to live with us. The radiation where she lives sounds like it’s out of control. We need help to get her here. Call Susan at Peggy Sue’s BBQ Snider Plaza, 11am-5pm today; 11am-8:30pm tomorrow (Friday).
That’s great news.
Great news. I’m not sure how it would work, but it may be possible to contribute frequent flyer miles to get her here. The airport in Sendai was destroyed in the tsunami, so the hard part will be getting her from Sendai to Narita.
Thank you, Merritt and Neal.
Frequent flyer miles are a great idea, as others have suggested. If you are AA I think you just donate your miles to me, AAdvantage number 2962RH6. Someone has donated 7K. We have 5K. So, about that many more and we’re there! (Or it may take 30K for Japan flight).
There’s actually excellent bullet service between Sendai & Tokyo (or there was). And from Tokyo, a city train to Narita.
It would be better if we could go over and bring her out. But, barring a real miracle, that seems unlikely.

Thanks, all!
