A Few Random Thoughts on Angie Harmon
As we’ve been thumbing through old newspapers to research our “30 Years, 30 Stories” series, we found this picture of Angie Harmon, which was published on our Oct. 15, 1987 front page with an article about the Highland Park High School sophomore appearing on the cover of Seventeen magazine. (Her reward for beating out more than 63,000 other girls for the honor? A 1987 Pontiac Fiero.)
Harmon, of course, went on to further fame and fortune as an assistant district attorney on Law & Order. These days, she’s switched from the order side to the law side, playing a detective on the horribly named Rizzoli & Isles. We tried to do a “where are they now” piece on her, but our messages with TNT’s publicity folks went unreturned.
However, I can tell you where she is now. Harmon, husband Jason Sehorn, and their three daughters live in North Carolina. I know that only because Harmon is on the cover of the latest Lucky Kids, a magazine my wife is receiving to fulfill her subscription to the beloved but canceled Cookie.
Remember when Sehorn proposed to Harmon on The Tonight Show? (You’ll just have to remember it, since I can’t find the video online.) Sometime after that, I was standing in line behind them at the AMC Glen Lakes box office, and I remember hearing Sehorn order tickets for “one adult, one student.” I don’t know who was eligible for the student discount, but I love that a pro football player married to a TV star was frugal enough to ask for it. A penny saved is a penny earned.
