Rise and Shine, Park Cities (3-1-11)
1. It’s March! Break out the swim trunks!
2. Last night’s Highland Park Town Council meeting was the most contentious meeting since I started here in September. Okay, it was the ONLY contentious meeting since I started here in September. Up for debate were a pair of lots on Stratford Avenue. The owners want to combine them into one lot, with a 12,000 square foot house.
The neighbors? Not so much.
Check out this week’s edition to see what happened.
3. “Katy Trail Ice House is now following you on Twitter!” Best PCP follower since West Village’s Giant Menorah, IMHO. Anyway, it’s going to be a biergarten-style establishment, right off the Katy Trail (Think Lance Armstrong’s Michelob Ultra commercials, with better beer. Because, really, what beer isn’t better than Michelob Ultra?), and it opens March 14.
Beware the day before the Ides of March. Especially if you’re biking home on the trail.
Check out their Facebook page for more details.
4. Lastly, my uncle’s in town this weekend. I’m thinking Sunday brunch. Suggestions?
No place better for Sunday lunch then the patio at Patrizio’s.
If you’re looking for more local flavor – Bubba’s can’t be beat! They do have a bit of an indoor plumbing issue, however.
Just depends on what impression you’re trying to make, now that you live out here on the prairie.
Does Sonny Bryan’s still have the original location on Inwood at Harry Hines? It’s not open on Sunday but would be a good lunch spot for Saturday. LBJ had their food flown to the White House on many occasions – best onion rings in the world!
Brunch at The Grape is great!
Toulouse or Ozona’s (build your own bloody bar)
Is that the house Justin Leonard wants to build?
totally agree about Patrizio’s…if it’s a pretty day, sitting outside is wonderful. If it’s nasty out, the inside is equally lovely!
