Lucy Washburne and Christopher Umphres WeddingLucy Eleanor Pomeroy Washburne and Lt. Christopher Kallin Umphres exchanged wedding vows Jan. 8 at the Church of the Incarnation in Dallas. The ceremony was officiated by Father Greg Methvin. A reception followed at the Brook Hollow Golf Club.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. Richards Pomeroy Washburne and Mrs. Lucy Hunter Washburne of Highland Park. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hunter and the late Mr. and Mrs. Elihu B. Washburne, all of Dallas.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Carl Umphres of Dallas. He is the grandson of Mrs. William Attebury and the late Mr. Attebury, Mrs. Seldon Simpson and the late Mr. Hugh Umphres, all of Amarillo.

The bride chose an Augusta Jones lace gown, with scattered seed pearls, iridescent sequins, a sweetheart neckline, and a satin sash with seed pearl accents. She wore two bridal veils, one a waist-length blusher veil with lace trim and the other a cathedral-length veil belonging to her mother. Her gown had a chapel-length train.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Attending as maid of honor was her sister, Mary Lamar Addison Washburne. Bridesmaids included Courtney Key, Tarah Finley, Charlotte van Heurck, Isabelle de Liedekerke, Haylee Dallas, and the bride’s cousin Katie Kibler.

The best men were William and Brian Umphres, brothers of the groom. Other groomsmen included Bobby Dean, Mark Strout, Rick Evans, Landon Kanner, and Hunter Washburne, brother of the bride. Ushers were Daniel Foose, Ramsey Eddins, Bart Gunter, cousin of the bride John Washburne, and cousins of the groom John Attebury and Bill Thanhouser.

House party members included Virginia Brown, Kristen Deahl, Ariane de Liedekerke, Eileen Hutchinson, Ozge Karakaya, Lisa Kicielinski, Melissa McKee Lovelace, Amanda Fry Moore, Hanna Lundin, Irina Negoita, Sylvia Novotny, Merissa Russell, Jean Taitt, Christina Vu, and cousins of the bride Sarah Washburne and Spindrift Beck. Daniel Foose was the scripture reader. The flower girls were cousin of the bride Margo Washburne and cousin of the groom Alise Dodgen. The ring bearer was Bo Barcus, also a cousin of the bride.

The bride is a graduate of First Baptist Academy where she served as valedictorian of her graduating class. She received a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and politics from Vesalius College in Brussels, Belgium, where she was also valedictorian of her graduating class. The bride was formerly a professional ballet dancer with the Sacramento Ballet. She is currently working toward a Masters of Science in social work with a minor in law at Columbia University.

The groom is a graduate of Cistercian Preparatory School. He received a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia, graduating with high distinction. He was a distinguished graduate from the ROTC at the University of Virginia, and he was a selectee for the Euro Nato Joint Jet Pilot Training program. The groom is currently a pilot in training to fly the A-10 “Warthog” for the United States Air Force.

Following their wedding trip to New York City, the couple will take up residence at Davis-Monthan Air Force base in Tucson, Ariz.
