Rise And Shine, Park Cities (01-20-11)

1. I can’t stop staring at Troy Aikman‘s eyes on the cover of the new D Magazine. What’s going on there? It looks like the Highland Park resident has Borg implants that give him X-ray vision.

2. Did you know the TAKS test is being replaced by the STAAR test? Parents of eight-graders will particularly want to pay attention.

3. Speaking of eighth-graders, today is my monthly shift in the Highland Park Middle School/McCulloch Intermediate School cafeteria. If you’re a student on that campus, let me know you read this by saying “thank you, sir” as I hand you your lunch. I’d even settle for “thanks, homie.”

It appears you folks at the Park Cities People are free flowing with your comments and opinions about third parties, but please stop deleting and censoring paragraphs when submitted and solicited from and by your blog.

Censorship is simply a questionable and bad form of business.

The Troy pic is really creepy!!!! Wonder if he’s ok with it? It certainly doesn’t look human.

Received my D Mag in the mail yesterday! My first thought was that that picture of Troy Aikman is the most unflattering picture I have ever seen of him! Surely they had better pics to choose from! It ages him 15+ years (he is my age). I think they were going for the “rugged, handsome” look but FAIL!

It’s really the Troy “He doesn’t have a presence so much as he embodies an idea of a presence.” Aikman as described in what is an incredibly poorly written article.

It’s a Borg! Or one of the pod-people!It’s a mannequin! It’s an avatar! Whatever, someone PLEASE have an explanation for this horrible picture. When I see D Mag on the newsstand I just want to turn it around so those robotic eyes are not staring…following…piercing..creeping me out!
