SMU Student Named a Finalist in PR Competition
Taylor Reed, a sophomore communications studies major, was recently named a finalist in the PRWeek Student of the Year competition.
Each student was tasked with creating a communications campaign for SanDisk, a worldwide leader in memory cards for electronic devices. Reed created her campaign as part of her coursework for her Intro to Public Relations course this past fall.
Reed will be flown to New York the week of Jan. 25, where she’ll compete against five other students for the title. The prize comes with $5,000 and an internship at New York-based Hill & Knowlton.
My advice for Taylor? Ditch the second round of judging and live it up in New York for a few days. Sure you lose the chance at $5,000, but you’ll probably have some decent stories by the end of it.
