Jesuit’s Wunderlick Steps Down

Jesuit head football coach Bob Wunderlick has stepped down after 14 years leading the Rangers. Wunderlick will continue coaching and remain at the school as an English teacher, according to a press release issued by Jesuit.

“This is a decision I’ve been considering for some time,” Wunderlick said. “I spoke with my wife and decided this is a good time to step down. I love coaching and teaching, and I love Jesuit — a place I’ve called home all my life. This move will allow me more time to focus on those folks and those things I love the most.”

The school is accepting applications for the position until Feb. 7.

The Rangers finished 6-5 (5-2) this past season. Jesuit lost to Rowlett, 35-28, in the first round of the playoffs.

Maybe he decided it was time for a change when he called for a Jesuit field goal in the last five seconds of the first half against W.T. White this fall that put the Rangers ahead of the Longhorns 62-0 at halftime.

Sounds like he could have easily scored a touchdown instead…
