DISD’s Magnet Schools Are Super
I spent six years in the DISD magnet program: middle school at the Spence Talented and Gifted Academy, my freshman year in the Career Development Center at Skyline High School, and the final three years at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
For the most part, it was a wonderful experience. And while that experience produced a boy who thought the senior yearbook photo you see here was a good idea, don’t let that preclude you from sending your child to one of DISD’s vanguards, academies, or magnets.
If you’re interested, you should know that Friday is the deadline to apply for the 2011-12 school year. Applications are available at any DISD campus or online. For more information, call 972-925-5447.
