Seen Any Cool Christmas Tree Mazes?
A year ago this week, we published this photo of Mary Grace Doviak and Luke Thornton inside the maze of discarded Christmas trees they built with friends in the 3400 block of Amherst. Anybody seen any such mazes sprout up this year?
FYI, the city of University Park will collect trees from curbs south of Lovers Lane through Jan. 11. UP residents who live north of Lovers have until Jan. 14. After those dates, there is a $10 collection fee.
In Highland Park, town employees will pick up Christmas trees on the east side of Preston Road on Tuesdays and Fridays. Residents on the west side of Preston should put their trees out for collection on Mondays and Thursdays. There is no fee in HP, and there is no deadline.
This is an annual tradition for the Doviaks. The kids love it.
My son & his buddies started their annual Christmas tree fort in the 4400 block of Greenbrier over the weekend. I’ve seen one other tree structure on Purdue, but not nearly as many as I’ve seen in years past. My daughter & her friends used to build one across from Hyer every year, and boys would steal trees from them for their own fort. It was quite the competition to see who could amass the most trees.
Ahhhh i remember building that although im bummed because i lost that sweatshirt when they took the trees but now its like two years later and yet we are still building the tree fort….. But me and Mary Grace dont take all the credit there are many MANY kids on our 3400 block of Amherst who help out!!
