Thinking of Hosting Teen Party?
Here’s something to think about before the next time your lawn is littered with red plastic cups. A former Texas Supreme Court justice is being sued for damages by the parents of a girl who was killed in a car wreck after drinking at his house. The suit is based on a law that holds teen-drinking-party hosts responsible for the actions of their guests.
I am also concerned with all the 16yr new drivers with carloads of teenagers? Isnt it against the law for them to have more than one person in their cars for the first six months? Why is that not enforced by our local police? I see them all over UP/HP-
Yes, the law states that for ONE YEAR, they may only have one unrelated passenger. And they cant use a cell phone at all, even hands free. No driving between midnight and 5 am , either….
Now if we could just get some regulations on those Ruckus scooters…geez… almost hit a kid today.
and don’t get me started on the dirtbikes with the school board member’s son riding double…
What is the fine if they are caught? Are the UP/HP police just not enforcing this?
HSMOM/Teensmom
The police have to have a reason to stop the kids, you know there 16, but the police don’t know if there 16 or 17 just by looking at them while there driving. The police can’t just stop you and check your age. If they are stopped for a traffic violation or some other reason they will get a ticket. Sounds loke the parents need to know where and what there 16 year olds are doing. I want the police to concentrate on the people who have broke into my vehicles/house and not your kids who should know better.
THEY’RE
and THEIR but rarely THERE
I would like parents to stop allowing kids to drink in their homes. I don’t know why they think it is ok. It’s not. Then the neighbors call the police for noise and next thing MIPs etc are being issued. What is wrong with these parents?
We have grammar police on this string and yet don’t have adequate parent policing in the home. The cover story refers to a good law.
Can anyone provide an update on the investigation of the fake ID’s used by the 3 HP students at the Palladium Ballroom where the underage girl went comatose?
And apparently there Is still someone at the high school making fake IDs.
Teensmom: The driving rules are only family members and one unrelated passenger for first 6 months of driving, not a year. Plus, I was told that in HP/UP teens can drive between 12-5am. We don’t let our teen driver out between those hours, except for special occasions (homecoming, prom etc) but the rules are different in our area as opposed to Dallas rules.
And what good idea is it for parents to serve alchohol to minor CHILDREN in their homes? good gracious. It’s illegal to drink underage and just sets such a bad example in so many ways.
