Update: Lunchtime Robbery Was at Al’s Steakhouse

David Tordoff got quite the scare at 1 p.m. on Sept. 24 when three men jumped him for his iPhone. Tordoff said he was dining at one of his favorite lunch spots, Al’s Steakhouse at Preston and Royal, when the attack occurred.

“We picked this place because it’s nice and quiet,” said Tordoff, who was dining with three friends that day.

An Al’s Steakhouse manager who preferred not to be named said the event was not typical.

“It’s very unusual for our restaurant,” he said. “It’s never happened before.”

Tordoff said he was anticipating a call and had placed his iPhone on the table. He was attacked by three men, one of which hit him on the head. He chased them out of the restaurant, but they took off down the street and got in a black, hatchback get-away car.

Despite their proximity to the assailants, Tordoff and his friends didn’t get a good look at them.

“Unfortunately, it’s something that will probably never get resolved,” he said.
