Annette Strauss Square Opens Downtown
“We’re so proud of everything my mother did for the city of Dallas, and this is a wonderful tribute,” said Preston Hollow resident Janie McGarr, daughter of former Dallas mayor Annette Strauss.
McGarr, along with hundreds of other guests, gathered this afternoon for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Annette Strauss Square, a new outdoor arts space downtown. Part of the AT&T Performing Arts Center, the square features an outdoor stage and lawn seating for up to 2,400 guests.
Strauss was feted by current Dallas mayor Tom Leppert, SMU president R. Gerald Turner, and her husband Ted Strauss. H. Ross Perot and T. Boone Pickens stuck out among the guests.
