You Can’t Argue With Hockaday
Well, technically you can, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
The Hockaday debate team made history this weekend as it qualified for the National Tournament of Champions in public forum for the first time.

PUBLIC FORUM: Miss Vijayakumar (Form III) and Miss Tahk (Form II) defeated team after team to make it all the way to the Championship Final Round, finishing in Second Place to a talented team from Mississippi; They were also the #1 seed and only undefeated team in the preliminary rounds. Consequently, they are first PF team in Hockadebate history to earn a bid to the national Tournament of Champions!
The Public Forum team as a whole was dominant. Four of the five Hockaday Public Forum teams advanced to the elimination rounds (and all had winning records); this is particularly impressive given that only nine of the 41 total teams advanced to eliminations, meaning Hockaday ended up with half of the teams in the Quarterfinal round. Sophomores Miss Zhang and Miss Shang made it to Semifinals, and the teams of Miss Kim/Miss Qin and Miss Yoon/Miss Deshpande were coached over in the Quarterfinal Round.
SPEECH: For the first time in at least a decade, Hockaday students competed in Original Oratory. And, one of our two entries — Miss August(Form IV) — advanced to the Semifinal Round of that competition!
LINCOLN-DOUGLAS: The Hockaday Lincoln-Douglas squad continued its strong season, advancing more students (5) into elimination rounds (top 32 of 114) than any other school in the competition. Major congratulations to Miss Enthoven (Form IV) who finished in 5th Place (Quarterfinals) and Miss Basu (Form III) who finished in 9th place (Octofinals).
Other students advancing to elimination rounds included Miss Ridout (Form IV) and Miss Fanous (Form IV) and Miss Cowger (Form III). Miss Balan and Miss Dannenmaier, both Form III, nearly missed the elimination rounds as 33rd and 34th seed on the fourth tie breaker!
