Definitely needs an overhaul. More chrome and neon and kind of a nuveaux Frisco / Southlake thing would be cool. Take out the trees. Build a short, squat, stone wall at each end and re-name it Snyder PARK.
A kid friendly place would be great. Something along the lines of Slider & Blues, a pizza joint with a game room that sells pizza by the slice, ice cream, etc. I’ve always thought a business like this would boom in this locale – maybe a digital juke box, a patio – a bar and a few decent adult food items for the parents.
Remember how Slider & Blues gave kids a quarter for every A on thier report card? We used to load up our son and 3 of his friends with report cards in hand and head over for pizza and games there. The owner would make a fuss over their report cards, hand over the quarters – nice ploy, our kid always brought up going there when his report card came in.
mk– I agree. I would love a rooftop patio. Maybe on top of the Bandito’s/ Half Shells location. You could see beautiful sunsets, the downtown skyline and all the shiny gold cupolas at SMU.
Would also welcome a Ball’s Hamburgers. Apparently, still bummed about losing them.
M.E. Moses, Steve’s Ice Cream, Ball’s are all good as is the rooftop bar idea. Steve’s would have a trivia question that got you a free scoop (like Mustang with the free glazed). We would walk there from UP, get the questions, and call the Dallas Public Library where the reference woman would look up the answers. Life was good
Ramsey-Steve’s Ice Cream has relaunched and will reopen in NYC. It may not be in Snider Plaza, but pints will soon be avaliable for purchase online at stevesicecream.com 🙂
a good outdoor patio bar/restaurant, where you can have meet friends to have a late-night adult beverage
An upscale makeover and more trees. But the trees can’t interfere with the parking!
In a different vein, maybe a “wholesome” place for kids to hang out. Guess the movie theatre idea is already taken.
free beer.

In N Out Burger
Some kind of casual burgers and beer spot that is both kid friendly, but also has a kind of sports bar feel. Yes, I mean a Balls.

The return of Steve’s Ice Cream.
Dunkin’ Donuts. Even just a tiny satellite branch that just sells coffee.
for the Fine Arts to return.
I still want M.E. Moses Five and Dime and Skillerns to come back.

Bring back the old University Park Cafeteria where the blue haired ladies lunched to live organ music.
Radfords was the cafeteria and Ms Inez was the organ player…I agree with Gary…Skillerns, ME Moses and Steves!
Dollar General. Y’all need a good cheap place to get house crap. Send the maid, she can shop for herself at the same time.
A hardware store. Ideally Elliott’s, which is looking for a place to move its Maple Avenue store to.
