Howeth Named Starting Quarterback

Highland Park head coach Randy Allen said on Tuesday that senior Jake Howeth will be the team’s starting quarterback, but that junior Brady Burgin will also see some playing time for the Scots.

“We have a package for Brady, and we have a package for Jake,” Allen said. “We put them in their strenghts so that we  present some real different problems for the defense when they go in.”

Allen said the biggest advantage to rotating quarterbacks is he will be more willing to let Howeth run. In the past, Allen said, he would hold back running the quarterback until the playoffs.

“That’s what we’re starting with,” Allen said. “That doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll stick with it. That’s what my thinking is going into the first ballgame.”‘

Luke Woodley has been the team’s starter the last two seasons.
