Scots Break in New Digs

The Highland Park Scots wasted no time taking advantage of the school’s new multi-purpose indoor facility on the first day of football practice on Monday.

After a morning practice with the kicking game, the entire team conducted its first full workout in the impressive venue, protecting players and coaches from dangerous triple-digit heat.

“Oh, man, it’s better than I dreamed,” Scots head coach Randy Allen said. “It’s just unbelievable how much safer it is and the difference it makes from being on that turf. If it’s 100 degrees outside, it’s 150 on that turf. You go in there and it’s 80 degrees.”

The Scots will continue workouts at 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. through Friday. Highland Park will have an intrasquad scrimmage at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

“They’re in great shape,” Allen said of his team. “They worked hard this summer and retained a lot, so it was a good day.
